completed the illustration, design and theme copy for l’oreal maybelline’s exclusive compact gift pack with pouch giveaway. the theme i came up with was “talk of the town” to align with maybelline new york’s penchant for city style and also to allow me to introduce speech bubbles as part of the illustration pattern. props to avril and jerraine from maybelline for being absolute delights to work with.
the design was also featured in the straits times, singapore’s national newspaper as part of a series of makeup products using illustrations.
and as stories go, my mom did tell me that the first time she caught me doodling was when i was barely two. i decided then to introduce her lipstick to her bedroom wall. ironic that the association with makeup would resurface.
work in progress for upcoming singpost x wanton doodle ipad2 cover. i usually start off with a pencil sketch before i ink it. the detailing is usually done at this point. after that, i vectorize it before colour treatment and seeing how it would look like on the product.
had barrels of fun sharing with budding illustrators on the abundant possibilities of illustration. the participants even had their works showcased at the national library for over a month and we all went hog-wild doodling up a 17 metre-wide mural. major thanks to national arts council and national arts library for the opportunity. more photos here.
